Avoid These 5 Critical E-Cigarette Safety Mistakes at All Costs

You know how dangerous lithium-ion batteries can be if they’re not cared for properly. If you’re making one of these critical safety mistakes, please stop now!

Using Damaged Batteries

A removable battery has a plastic wrapper because the entire surface of the battery is conductive. If something metal touches the side of a battery because the battery’s wrapper is torn, you could have a short circuit on your hands. If a battery has visible damage, replace the wrapper or stop using the battery.

Using a Mobile Phone Charger

If your vaping device accepts a charge via USB, you should only charge the device via your computer or a manufacturer-approved wall adapter. Never charge an e-cigarette with a mobile phone charger. Mobile phone batteries are designed for fast charging, but a fast-charging adapter could overheat an e-cigarette battery.

Transporting Batteries in Your Pocket

Improper carrying is one of the most common causes of e-cigarette battery fires. Carrying batteries in your pocket is dangerous because other metal objects could touch the batteries and cause a short circuit. Transport your batteries in dedicated cases.

Extreme Cloud Chasing

Cloud chasing is fun, but you can go too far when building low-resistance coils. Always check your coil resistance. Remember Ohm’s law. Always build coils that stay within the safe discharge rate of your batteries. If your device feels noticeably hot, you’re causing too much stress to your batteries.

Using Heavily Sweetened E-Liquids

No, you don’t really need to stop using sweetened e-liquids. Have you noticed, though, that your coils always look black when you swap them out? Try an unsweetened e-liquid for longer coil life and less gunk.
